Santa Clara Square

Santa Clara, CA

Anchored by towering giants, the master plan for Santa Clara Square supports an integrated, walkable community of office, retail, and housing while paying homage to the natural beauty of Northern California’s beautiful Redwood trees. We partnered with MVE Architects and The Irvine Company to carefully weave a master plan around several large stands of existing redwood trees providing a mature and dynamic landscape that creates a visual link between the site’s parks, public trail systems, retail, office, and residential buildings. This project was honored to receive the Milestone Project of the Year award from the Silicon Valley Business Journal.

Spanning over 25 acres meant prioritizing wayfinding and signage. We worked closely with RSM to craft these custom signs that showcase the site map attached to a custom, corten steel sign with laser cut pattern of the redwood tree rings.

Trees that had to be removed due to construction or health issues were repurposed for benches and trellis elements throughout the site.

The community is anchored by Meadow Park, a large central public park that features an open lawn area, a custom redwood-inspired playground, and picnic areas.

A meandering trail system with fitness stations runs around the entire community and provides recreation opportunities for residents and visitors.
