Pasarroyo
Pasadena, CA
Pasarroyo, a 650,000-square-foot Class A office campus spanning a six-acre city block in Pasadena, features a 2,000-car subterranean garage. Built between 1964 and 1982, this Modernist corporate center posed a design challenge: how to introduce human-scale intimacy to complement its bold architecture. The solution includes defined activity zones, dynamic landscaping, and innovative shade structures, such as large man-made “trees” that blend the built and natural environments. The revitalized plaza features lush gardens with a mix of woodland and riparian species, colorful succulents, and layers of oaks and flowering trees, creating inviting spaces for gathering, working, and relaxing outdoors.
