3033 Wilshire

Los Angeles, CA

Located in the center of Koreatown—Los Angeles’ highest density neighborhood and multicultural hub—3033 Wilshire is located blocks from iconic LA locales such as the Wiltern Theater and the art deco Bullocks Wilshire. The 18-story residential tower features a modern rooftop retreat, a saltwater lap pool, outdoor cooking stations, and 360-degree views of downtown LA and the Hollywood Hills. The podium level provides a lounge area and a dog run that serves the building’s 190 apartment homes.

The creative direction involved fashioning a relaxed and elevated environment for the modern urban dweller. Careful consideration went into the design of private spaces that focus on quality materials and finishes.

Considering the building’s height and construction, weight, and transport of materials were of primary concern. Planter pots were fabricated from lightweight GFRC and planted with drought-tolerant species. Site elements were prefabricated in sections, hoisted individually, and pieced together in place.

Landscape materials were selected to create a unified connection from indoor to outdoor spaces. Paving materials from the indoor lounge flow out to the adjacent outdoor spaces.

Plant material was carefully selected for sculptural and colorful qualities to provide contrast to the clean lines and simple tones of the building.
