For over one hundred years this home has stood at the crest of a two-acre parcel in a bucolic neighborhood. By the time our client purchased the property, the gardens had become a tangled jungle where sunlight rarely reached the ground. An ambitious re-imagination of the grounds ensued, the first phase of which entailed a careful editing of the canopy and what was left of the understory. From there a choreographed series of spaces that defined the approach to the house and established discreet outdoor rooms followed. Today, the enlarged and restored English Arts and Crafts home inhabits graceful gardens with opened up vistas and a fitting grandeur.
