If the old adage “patience is a virtue” is true, the gardens surrounding this 1920’s Spanish home are quite virtuous, indeed! For ninety years the exterior spaces held little more than an asphalt driveway, Deodar Cedar and Camphor trees in the front yard, a small courtyard patio, and expansive lawn in the front and back yards. After raising their children in this home, our clients decided it was finally the moment to breathe new life into the gardens.

Patterned tile used extensively throughout the house influenced the new Malibu Tile benches, fountain, and pool. Each was designed to look as though they were original to the home—a nod to timelessness.

Wishes for the new gardens included a new pool with a guesthouse and gracious spaces for hosting friends and family.

Mesquite Trees, Wisteria, Aloes, Agaves, Fan Palms, and Bougainvillea are just a few of the exuberant plants that bring life and delight to this new garden.

It took a good deal of time to come true, but this garden is living proof that “all good things come to those who wait!”
