PASEOS AT MONTCLAIR
DESIGN won a concept design competition to work on this 384-unit residential development anchored by a public park. To simplify the complexity of layered public and private spaces, we identified typologies for paseos, parking courts, and public or semi-public spaces. Each typology tells a story with a unique sense of place referencing Montclair’s rich agricultural history by using color as a way finding device to orient residents and visitors. Our aim was to design a healthy, vibrant community centered around a sunken central park - the Arroyo. The Arroyo is the heart of the residential development, a gift to the community, and the place that tells the story of sustainability.
