A partner and principal of the firm, Matthew Hall has developed expertise in a wide variety of project types in over three decades. His design focus in high-density residential, recreation and international projects earned him recognition by the American Society of Landscape Architecture, American Institute of Architects and the Urban Land Institute. Matthew was instrumental in evolving EPTDESIGN into a design-oriented firm with exquisite execution when he joined the practice from SWA Group in 1991. He conducts a process-oriented design approach that suits the complex, large projects for which he has become known. His passion for collaboration with multiple disciplines makes high density projects a natural fit. Recent multifamily work, such as Crescent Village in San Jose, finds Matthew honing the details that make a project inviting while reflecting the regional contexts that ground large projects in place. In addition to leadership in design, Matthew drives the cultural and professional development of the staff, instigating such programs as EPTDESIGN University and TREK, which helped earn Outside Magazine’s “Best Places to Work” honor. He balances work with competitive cycling and volunteering in the cycling and mountain sports communities as well as for The Ohio State University, his alma mater.
