Kaiser Permanente has been leading the initiative for preventative care and wellness with hospitals and medical campuses that serve the community at large. Lancaster’s new Medical Office Building campus landscape design dedicates a large portion of the campus to a public fitness garden, natural playground and community amphitheater for educational events. Tall trees along the southern edge provide a wind barrier against the Antelope Valley’s extreme summer winds and green views from the upper level patient rooms. Natural materials in the garden and courtyard provide several options for patients, visitors and healthcare providers to gather, meditate or exercise to restore their mental and physical well-being. This campus is designed to be a net-zero energy campus and a LEED Platinum certified project.
